Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 10, 2008 -- Door to Door Storage,
Inc., a leading national provider of portable self-storage
containers and moving services, announced that it
has donated the use of 13 storage containers to the University of Texas for its
"Trash to Treasure 2008 Program." The portable storage containers
will be used to hold items donated by students when leaving the dorms at the
end of the school year.
Door To Door Moving and
Storage Services
Once filled, the mobile storage units will be
stored at the Door To Door Storage facility in Austin
until August when the University
of Texas hosts a garage
sale to re-sell the items to students at a discounted rate. Door To Door
Storage participated in last year's event, playing a key role and helping to
keep over 50 tons of garbage out of landfills. The event raised more than
$20,000 for the University of Texas Student Government Campus Environmental
Center (CEC) run by students.
"The 'Trash
to Treasure 2008 Program' is highly anticipated by our students and our many
volunteers work very hard to plan this event," said Karen Blaney, Staff Advisor, CEC.
"We sincerely appreciate the help of Door To Door Storage to provide us
with containers,
transportation and warehousing of the items, as it enables us to make our
sale and fundraising efforts far more effective."
The CEC provides
an opportunity for students to promote environmental stewardship and implement
numerous projects that will have a positive impact on the University of Texas
campus environment. The CEC is the main organizer of the "Trash to
Treasure 2008 Program."
"Door To
Door Storage is pleased to participate in the 'Trash to Treasure 2008 Program'
and partner with the University
of Texas for another
year," said Annette Jacobs, president and CEO, Door To Door Storage.
"This is an important effort with two very positive outcomes: saving items
from going to the landfill and raising money for the CEC."
