Q: How does the Door To Door portable storage system work?
A: We deliver one or more of our portable storage containers to your home or location for you to load with the items you want to move or store. You can take up to a week to load your storage container. Then we pick up your containers as scheduled and take them to our local, secure storage center.
The portable storage container can remain at the Door To Door storage center for as long as you like, and be delivered to the location of your choice at any time.
Q: Why is Door To Door better than renting a truck and taking my items to a traditional storage center?
A: For most moving and storage needs, the Door To Door system has proven to be less work, less hassle, and less expensive. It's the safest, most reliable, and most affordable way to move and store you belongings. With Door To Door:
- The portable storage container comes to you: You don't have to rush to pick up a rental truck, load it, drive to your storage location, unload it and return it.
- Door To Door storage containers are much easier to load than a truck because they are at ground level (the floor is elevated by several inches to keep it dry while at your location).
- Your labor is effectively reduced by half because you only load the storage container once on the front end before it goes into storage, and unload it once on the back end when you take it out of storage.
- We will help you move and store, on your schedule.
Q: How much does it cost to store with Door To Door? What payment methods do you accept?
A: Prices vary in the regions we service throughout the U.S., so please call a Door To Door Storage Specialist for a price quote.
Q: How soon can you deliver a portable storage container after I call to place my order? How far in advance should I make the delivery appointment?
A: Container availability varies by region, season, and other factors. We make every effort to accommodate your schedule, but if you want to reserve your storage containers for specific dates, we recommend that you call us 2-3 weeks before you would like them to be delivered.
Q: Do you pick-up and deliver Door To Door portable storage containers on weekends?
A: We deliver and pick up portable storage containers on Saturday but we are closed on Sundays.
Q: Do you show up when you say you will? Are you more reliable than the cable guy?
A: Yes! We guarantee your delivery window. If we fail to arrive during your window, you will receive a minimum credit of $50. We don't like to wait for the cable guy any more than you do.
Q: Do I have to be there when the Door To Door portable storage container is dropped-off or picked-up?
A: We require that whoever is making payment and signing the contract be at the home for delivery, unless you choose to fill out and sign No One Home paperwork and have it back to us at least 48 hour prior to Delivery.
Q: Do you have PODS?
A: PODs is a company that provides larger containers. Door To Door's more compact portable storage containers give you greater safety and easier container positioning in tight places, apartment parking spaces, on streets, or on sloped or uneven surfaces. Plus, with larger containers, you may be paying for more storage space than you need.
Q: How do the Door To Door portable storage containers differ from the PODS containers?
A: Door To Door storage containers are:
- Smaller and can more safely be placed in tighter areas, slopes, or uneven surfaces. Door To Door portable storage containers are also street legal in many places where PODs containers are not.
- Made of wood, are more breathable than PODs containers, and so minimize the possibility of condensation in the container.
- Constructed to keep sunlight out of the containers while they are at your location.
- The best way to organize your belongings while moving and storing.
Q: Do you provide moving boxes and other packing supplies?
A: Yes, many of Door To Door's local storage centers also carry moving boxes and packing supplies and can deliver them with your Door To Door container delivery. Q: Where will you place the portable storage containers when you deliver them?
A: We can place the storage containers in any location where a car can be legally parked overnight. When you call to make your appointment, your Door To Door Storage Specialist can help you determine the best location for you.
Q: How secure will my belongings be at the Door To Door portable storage center?
A: During the 12 years Door To Door has offered portable storage solutions, our incident rates have been among the lowest in the industry. Traditional storage centers have much higher break-in rates than Door To Door — as much as 33% annually. Plus, Door To Door has the lowest claims rating in the industry (AMSA).
Q: Will Door To Door pack my storage items and load the portable storage container for me?
A: Door To Door does not provide these services, but we can refer you to several licensed packing companies that pack and load your belongings for you.
Q: How long do I have to load or unload the Door To Door portable storage container?
A: Door To Door storage wants to make your moving or storage experience as easy as possible. We recommend that you take no more than one week to load or unload your portable storage containers, but we can be flexible to accommodate your schedule.
Q: Will my belongings shift during transport between my home and the Door To Door storage center?
A: Our compact portable storage containers help prevent shifting, and how well your items are packed and secured inside the container is also an important factor. We recommend that you ask your Door To Door Storage Specialist to provide you with moving pads!
Q: Where will my Door To Door portable storage containers be stored?
A: All Door To Door storage containers are stored indoors at storage centers in a temperature controlled environment to help ensure the optimal condition of your belongings.

Q: How long can I store my portable storage container at Door To Door?
A: There is no limit to how long you can store your container. Many Door To Door customers store their belongings with us for years.

A: Yes, please call for details.
Q: Can I get insurance for my stored items?
A: All Door to Door prices include $750 of valuation coverage on each of your containers. For added peace of mind, additional coverage of $7,000/container is available for only $6 per container per month.
Q: What can I store in a Door To Door portable storage container?
A: Virtually all household items, furniture, personal belongings and office supplies and equipment are suitable for storage. You may not store any chemicals, explosives, gas, oil, fluids, cleaning products or paint.
Q: Will my belongings be subject to mold or sun damage?
A: The Door To Door portable storage containers are made of pressure-treated plywood and are very breathable to help prevent condensation. At our storage center, your container is kept indoors in a controlled environment and you items will not be exposed to the sun, moisture, mold or mildew.
